Savy has been a very active recording artist since age 19. Her first studio album, Mekong Delta Blues (2007), features her with her mentor, Master Kong Nay, and was recorded on Peter Gabriel’s Long Tale Recordings label. Her second album, Sarikakeo (2009) was recorded with Cambodia’s most celebrated traditional singer, Master Ieng Sithul, for the country’s preeminent arts organization, Cambodian Living Arts.   

Savy is a longtime collaborator with accomplished Norweigan composer and pianist Ingolv Haaland. They have recorded and performed together in Cambodia and Norway, creating four albums together. Savy’s Khmer lyrics and traditional Cambodian ornamentations beautiful complement Ingolv’s western melody lines. Their Music Without Borders record has received rave reviews from international music critics, on which Savy also collaborated with Norweigan grammy award winning singer Kirsten Bråten Berg and Iranian traditional singer Masha Vadat.  

During her 2010 and 2012 visits to Chicago, Savy performed with composer and trumpet virtuoso David Young at Elastic Arts and the Cambodian Association of Illinois.

In addition to her studio albums, Savy also regularly records for Cambodian National Radio and television stations in Phnom Penh. In 2011, she taught and recorded a collection of traditional Mahoari songs with her young Cambodian singing students so they could share their music with family and friends. 

WEDDINGS

Savy is available for traditional Khmer weddings and ceremonies. She has performed at hundreds of Khmer weddings all across Cambodia and is an expert of all traditional Cambodian ceremonies. She looks forward to performing at Khmer weddings in the United States and other countries with Cambodian communities.

Savy’s older sister, Savoeun, is also an exceptional Khmer wedding singer, and is available for booking.

WORKSHOPS & CLASSES

Savy believes in supporting future generations of traditional Khmer artists, and has taught music classes and workshops at Cambodian Living Arts, A New Day Cambodia, Community Volunteers for Community Development, and Khmer communities in France, Norway, Sweden, and the United States.
